East Texas Hail Storm Damage

I'm finding some news reports out of East Texas confirming the hail damage reports there last week. It looks like the Lindale and Bullard, Texas damage reports were legitimate. Actually, the reports sound like the damage may be a little on the heavy side.

I don't have a report with an insurance claim number but it looks like most of the insurance claims work is going to Tyler,Texas.

You can read the news reports for yourself. This story discusses the degree and amount of vehicle damage. Be sure to read the last paragraph where the body shop guy says the average insurance claim is running $3000 - $9000.

This story is out of Lindale, Texas and discusses the hail damage to the roof of two schools. It seems the damage is so bad the roofs leaked and did damage inside the buildings.

This story is out of Bullard, Texas. This is the obligatory article about the possibility of unscrupulous contractors. I love how they always act like the local roofing company could handle re-roofing the entire town.

This story is a collection of viewer pictures of the hail in Lindale sent in to the local TV station. These pics don't make it look too bad, mostly quarter to golfball and not too heavy to be fixed with paintless dent repair.

I know this is about a week late, sorry. This is, however, the only thing I'm picking up right now. I've gotten several questions about Tennessee but I'm not getting anything on the Tennessee or Alabama hail reports yet. I've heard there was some legitimate hail in Mississippi but I don't know exactly where.

That's what I've got. I'll post again when I have more.

Alive and Kicking

Hey guys, I just wanted to make a quick post to let you know I am around and I haven't been ignoring your emails. The Arkansas Tornado last week passed about 1/4 mile from me. Miraculously we didn't have any damage from the storm but the electricity, phone and internet were down for a long time.

In fact, the power was restored Monday afternoon and the phones started coming bach last night. I am able to get intermittent dial-up internet right now but still no broadband.

I am WAY behind on weather stuff and retrieving weather data and news stories on a dial-up connection is tedious at best. I'll do what I can but don't expect too much right away.

I'm sure you can imagine what my email inbox looks like. I'll be returning everyone's emails as soon as possible. Thanks for you patience, things should get back to normal fairly quickly.

Early Word on the Dallas Hail Damage Report

The early word coming out of Dallas, Texas from the local TV stations about the hail reports is not encouraging. All three network stations are covering the storm and so far have not been able to find anyone that can directly report anything larger than 1.00" hail. You roofers will like the fact that there were reports of 6o MPH winds but I'm not hearing anything about any widespread damage on that either.

I'll link to the three stories below if you want to check them out for yourself. They all have at least one or two viewer pictures and one links to a video. Unfortunately, all of the pics and the video make it look like a very quick and mild hail storm with probably not much damage. You can check out the stories here, here and here.

These are very early reports and it's entirely possible things will change later as more things show up. This is shaping up to be an active evening and overnight. I'll do my best to stay on top of things and keep you informed.

As always, feel free to leave a comment here or email me with any confirmations or information you would like to share (Or not share).

P.S.

I know I just sat here in the last article and said I didn't post non-confirmations but this is Dallas, TX not Podunk, IL and I know everyone is killing themselves to find out what's going on.
